Research- Ferdinand de Saussure's Theory
Sabaidee media studies family! Welcome to my 2nd exercise post! in this assignment we looked over Ferdinand de Saussure's Theory. Essentially, his theory was similar to Barthes theory. They both believed that signs and symbols can have many underlying meanings than just the literal meaning. For example, A heart. A picture of a heart will literally translate to a heart. However, a heart can also mean love, affection, and even care.
For this assignment we yet again analyzed a scene from The Hunger Games. In this scene it shows when the contestants were first chosen. it takes place in district 12 where Katniss Everdeen lives. The scene continues as Katniss's younger sister Primrose has been chosen. Katniss quickly reacts and runs to Primrose. Katniss acts as tribute to save her sister.
