Charles Peirce’s Theory of Semiotics

     Sabaidee baw P'Nong? Welcome to my 3rd exercise post! This time we covered Charles Peirce’s Theory of Semiotics. Similar to Ferdinand and Barthes, Peirce believed that the signs and symbols we see in this world have multiple upfront and underlying meanings. For example, a dove can literally mean a bird. However, a dove is commonly used as a symbol for peace, angels, and life.

For this assignment, we were allowed to chose a scene from any movie of our liking. I chose to analyze one of my favorite movies at the moment. Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings. I chose to analyze the final battle between Shang-Chi and his father. In this scene after Xu Wenwu (Shang-Chi's father) breaks out the monster, the Great Protector is unleashed.
